Today, Friday the 7th of September 2007, I am taking part in a political debate taking place during the annual Haagse Popweek, 10 days of music in Den Haag but usually very rock dominated. The active Dance community in Den Haag is now fed up and initiated a public debate on the state of affairs of electronic music and the city of Den Haag. The biggest issue being why the electronic music sector constantly remains ignored by official institutions and funds.Place: Nutshuis, Riviervismarkt, Den Haag

6 down 7 up!Met deze naam gaan we het nieuwe jaar inluiden in de Boulevard te Breda. Maar liefst 17 DJ’s en 2 bands zullen optreden verspreid over 3 area’s!
Vanaf 22.00 uur kun je in het cafe terecht om het afgelopen jaar nog eens door te nemen. Om 0.00 uur is er natuurlijk vuurwerk en champagne. Daarna zullen ook de theaterzaal en het restaurant open gaan. In de zaal zullen de Exploding Shetland Ponies en Electric Moon het nieuwe jaar knallend inluiden met een live optreden om daarna plek te bieden aan DJ’s Edward James, Artek & Y? en Snob!
Terwijl het restaurant het domein is voor de betere alternatieve dance als electro, techno, minimal, dubstep en breaks verzorgd door DJ’s Mo Franco, Freak, CO2RO, HerrFer en Zaxxon.
De zeer diverse DJ’s in het cafe zullen er voor zorgen dat je je ook beneden geen moment zult vervelen. Varierend van 80’s tot reggae en van hiphop tot rockhits zal het cafe de plek zijn met een zeer brede muzikale invalshoek.
Kaarten a E10,- zijn te koop bij Tunes Ville (Haagdijk 15), Bonk (Veemarktstraat) en de Boulevard (St. Janstraat 3A)

Audio architects / musicians Dan Spier and Steve Scott spent many years in their garage studio in Staines, Middlesex, remixing, bootlegging tunes to play out to the free party masses. A lack of direction was rectified when past free party cohort and vocalist Ben McCusker (aka KRUDE / Audio Illusion) dropped into the studio and was blown away by the lawless, gritty tones bouncing off the studio walls.
Bringing with him a peerless vocal style that flies between sardonic, sarcastic social observation to raw urban prose, the Fatter Faction were formed, proper, December 2003. Their infectious, nihilistic tunes are best described as the musical equivalent of being smashed in the face. A calamity of cross-genre, distinctly British sounding tunes that stops anyone within earshot dead in their tracks. Interested?.........keep your ears to the ground... This weekend I was so fortunate as to be able to see Underground Resistance perform at the Today's Art festival in Den Haag. In the 16 years or so of their existence they never played in Holland before. The program promised the entire Galaxy2Galaxy band as well as the younger generation Interstellar Fugitives band. Due to the unforeseen absence of some of the G2G members they merged into a 'special' Interstellar Fugitives outfit.The band performed 'back to back' with their DJ's, playing a few songs and then be swapped over by half hour DJ sets. I was blown away. Apart from the fact that I was well chuffed that none of them showed up with any CDs (the DJs) nor laptops (the band) I suppose I wasn't prepared to get a full injection of proper soul-music. They were absolutely amazing and the music managed to open quite a few forgotten doors in the memory bank filled with stuff I experience when I hear their music. WOW. WOW. WOW.
I woke up the next day whilst having dreamt to the Jaguar as background music in my dreams... ran to my record shelves, blew the dust of my UR collection and played some old favorites of mine... Jupiter Jazz, Orbit, Elimination, Final Frontier... Gawd these tracks have changed my life FOREVER!
Mad Mike and crew, thank you for doing what you did, for doing what you are still doing, your music has given me life inspiration, then and now and for the rest of my life :)
