Siuli has been bang on it from the start, active since the dance scene exploded in Europe. Together with a small crew of friends she organised the famous Acid Planet parties in the Blauwe Aanslag squat in Den Haag, Holland in the early 90s (related to Unit Moebius and the Bunker label). She also was involved with Den Haag's free radio station 'Radio Tonka'.
If you really love it, you probably end up living it
Siuli was the key to the door in introducing 'Network 23' to the Netherlands, the informal import, distribution and selling of underground labels previously not available in the Dutch shops. Later she started up the underground label Grijs, with the goal to release artists who would not get a chance elsewhere due to their boundary-pushing music.
Apart from her many years as one of underground's top chick DJ's she now works as a dance promotor for Industrial Funk events and as coordinator of independent labels Grijs and Nocturnal State. Always the Governor, always the most powerful light behind the events, after all the years of being on it Siuli's enthusiasm to get it on is still as strong as ever.
this grrl has always done it for herself
As ever against the flow but always true to the dance floor, Suili is never afraid to experiment with fresh beats and is truly a DJ who pushes boundaries playing an ever wicked mix of dark electro bass and UK style breaks and beats.
feel the groove, make them move
07 September 07 - 17:47Den Haag Dance Debat
Today, Friday the 7th of September 2007, I am taking part in a political debate taking place during the annual Haagse Popweek, 10 days of music in Den Haag but usually very rock dominated. The active Dance community in Den Haag is now fed up and initiated a public debate on the state of affairs of electronic music and the city of Den Haag. The biggest issue being why the electronic music sector constantly remains ignored by official institutions and funds.
Place: Nutshuis, Riviervismarkt, Den Haag
Time: 20:00
After the Debate we shall be moving to the Silly Symphonies where I will be playing for the local politicians... Woohoo!! :)

This weekend I was so fortunate as to be able to see Underground Resistance perform at the Today's Art festival in Den Haag. In the 16 years or so of their existence they never played in Holland before. The program promised the entire Galaxy2Galaxy band as well as the younger generation Interstellar Fugitives band. Due to the unforeseen absence of some of the G2G members they merged into a 'special' Interstellar Fugitives outfit.
The band performed 'back to back' with their DJ's, playing a few songs and then be swapped over by half hour DJ sets. I was blown away. Apart from the fact that I was well chuffed that none of them showed up with any CDs (the DJs) nor laptops (the band) I suppose I wasn't prepared to get a full injection of proper soul-music. They were absolutely amazing and the music managed to open quite a few forgotten doors in the memory bank filled with stuff I experience when I hear their music. WOW. WOW. WOW.
I woke up the next day whilst having dreamt to the Jaguar as background music in my dreams... ran to my record shelves, blew the dust of my UR collection and played some old favorites of mine... Jupiter Jazz, Orbit, Elimination, Final Frontier... Gawd these tracks have changed my life FOREVER!
Mad Mike and crew, thank you for doing what you did, for doing what you are still doing, your music has given me life inspiration, then and now and for the rest of my life :)

Whilst in China I was lucky enuff to be in the company of 2 amazing scratchers. Seeing some proper turntablism that up close was absolutely amazing... I also had my first scratch lesson. Got told all the different scratches, and shown how to do a baby scratch and a cut to incorporate in my mix sets, by Professor Moyma from Brommie.
I better get practicing again before I completely forget how it was done... Uhmm..
