After partying her way round the Netherlands since the turn of the 90's and noticing a severe lack of females behind the decks Sazz started to spin the plastic fantastics.
"I noticed no females playing and decided to start buying records and become a DJ. I figured mixing records would be like finding the answer to a mathematical equation, so for me it would be an excellent way of training my mathematical mind."
In the beginning some said her taste in the tunes was a bit too rough, which was probably due to her musical past as she used to be into 'industrial' music like the Ministry, Skinny Puppy and grunge. That was to change though after hearing a certain SP23 (Spiral Tribe) posse from England who were at the time hauled up in Den Haag’s Blauwe Aanslag squat. They were staying there to do parties with Den Haag’s famous party crew ’Acid Planet’, after hearing this new sound she was convinced more than ever that she was on the right track with her taste for less melodic, and more rhythm based techno.
Sazz was by now part of the ’Hardcore Peace Generation’ posse, that were doing outdoor parties in Holland's Utrecht and Amsterdam area. They would later join forces with Holland's Legendary Mononom Soundsystem and it was at that point she left the group to become an independent DJ.
Inspired by the more hard edged Techno sound she would take this sound to places such as Vienna, Berlin, into Belgium and across many of Europe’s frontiers as well of course as her motherland Holland. In time she felt though that the sound in Holland was not changing and the musical style was not going forward and it was as this point she decided to put down her record bag and look elsewhere for mental input.
And so she spent more time going deeper inside the Apple and became the supreme system’s technician she is today. From way down deep inside the circuitry of the Macintosh for the last years Sazz now surfaces again driven by the undeniable force of electronic beat.
Now with a new sound, mixing, fixing and breaking the beat but certainly not faking it, after years in the wilderness she’s back.
You can run but you can never hide from the feeling that the music gives you.
